Questions Guests Ask
The answers the reservations desk gives most often. Anything else, ask us.
How do we get around?
Every villa has its own golf cart for the Estate’s roads, beaches and tennis courts, and extra carts can be rented. Beyond the Estate, transport is arranged through your villa host.
Are airport transfers included?
Yes. We meet you at Canouan Airport and drive you to your villa, about ten minutes away, and take you back when you leave.
Who looks after us in the villa?
A villa host for eight hours a day, daily housekeeping and turndown, and daily garden and pool service. Security and property management run 24 hours a day.
Can we have a chef in the villa?
Yes. Depending on the package you book, a private chef may be included in your stay; otherwise a chef can be added for an extra charge. We can also stock the kitchen before you arrive.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes. Canouan has fibre across the island, so every villa has fast wireless internet.
What are the plugs and power?
230/240 volts, 50 Hz, with UK-style plugs (three rectangular pins); bring an adapter. On the Estate, power runs through underground cables.
Which currency do we need?
The Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD), tied to the US dollar. Stays are priced in US dollars, and larger businesses take cards and US dollars. Village shops and bars mostly take cash; the island's one ATM is at the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines in the village.
Is service included?
A service charge is added to every bill (see Rental terms).
Is there a Kids Club?
Yes. The Pirates of Canouan Kids Club, on the beachfront, is complimentary for children from age three and up staying at Canouan Estate, Mandarin Oriental or Soho Beach House. There is a pool, a playground with a pirate ship, arts and crafts, baking, and a separate lounge for teenagers. It is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm, with evening specials in the festive weeks, and children under 3 are welcome with a parent or a babysitter.
Can we book a babysitter?
Yes. Depending on your package, your villa may come fully staffed, with a babysitter included. Otherwise babysitting is charged by the hour, for children from 6 months.
Is there a gym and a spa?
Yes: The Spa at Mandarin Oriental on the Estate, and the Spa and Health Club at Soho Beach House. We book treatments for you and add them to your bill. Always ask us what is on during your stay: visiting practitioners and specialists come through the island during the year. See Spa and wellness.
What if someone is unwell?
Tell your villa host or call the reservations desk at any hour. A doctor and a nurse are on site 24 hours a day, with our own clinic on the Estate and the island's local clinic, and there is a pharmacy on the island; emergency evacuation is arranged when it is needed.
What about drinking water?
Our drinking water is purified and bottled here on the Estate, in glass bottles, so none of it has to cross the sea to reach you. It is in your villa and refilled daily.
When is the best time to come?
Canouan is good all year. Daytime temperatures stay between about 24 and 30°C (75 to 86°F), with a steady trade wind. The festive season and the winter months are the busiest, so book early for them.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights for most of the year, and seven nights over the festive season, from 19 December to 4 January (ten nights at Big Blue Ocean and Little Blue Ocean). See Rental terms.
Can we eat at Mandarin Oriental and Soho Beach House?
Yes. With the Invisible Key, whichever resort you stay at, you have access to all three: Mandarin Oriental's restaurants on the Estate and Soho Beach House's on Grand Bay. We book tables for you.
Can we bring children of any age?
Yes. Cots and babysitting are available, and the Kids Club welcomes children from age 3, and younger children with a parent or a babysitter.
